Frequently Asked Questions

Physiotherapy uses manual therapy, electrotherapeutic and soft tissue approaches in order to promote independent mobility, optimal function, and well-being.

This is achieved through musculoskeletal screening to prevent injury, limiting pain and promoting your independent function through prescription of individual rehabilitation and progressive exercise programmes.

Our goal at The Arches is to seamlessly guide you through the rehabilitation milestones to optimal, pain-free function in the quickest and safest timeline possible.

The physiotherapist will take a comprehensive history of your complaint and relevant medical history. A physical evaluation will then be undertaken to ascertain the potential cause(s) of your symptoms. An explanation of your condition will then be followed by a discussion to agree your future rehabilitation plan. The first session will last approximately 45 minutes.

Depending on your presenting complaint, the assessment may well entail you exposing the relevant body part(s) so it will be helpful to bring appropriate clothing and footwear.
If you require a chaperone or have any other specific requests, please make the reception staff aware at the time of booking your appointment.

This will depend upon the symptoms that you have as well as the complexity and chronicity of your condition.

Your therapist may advise longer treatment and rehabilitation sessions beyond the 30 minute follow up sessions if they feel that this will benefit your progression. Referral to other members of the multi-disciplinary team may also be discussed to promote optimal resolution of your symptoms.

If you are unable to attend an appointment, please give the reception staff as much notice as possible otherwise charges may apply for missed appointment slots.

No, you can self refer to our team at The Arches  directly. We have an experienced team of multi-disciplinary professionals ready to assess your condition and tailor the rehabilitation plan to your individual needs.

Please check with our reception team at the time of booking your initial consultation if you wish to use your private healthcare cover.

Our team of experienced specialists at The Arches are here to deal with your specific problems and you will be allocated the most appropriate clinician at the time of booking your initial consultation. Depending upon your condition, it may be that you need to see different members of our multi-disciplinary team throughout your rehabilitation journey.
